AW:
My point is that the scriptures while being a fantastic spiritual guide, do contradict and are perhaps sometimes outdated-( shellfish, polycotton blend?)- do YOU wear a polycotton blend, because I really hope you follow the word of God to the letter, and don’t commit such a sin!! Are you telling me that you think slavery is a good thing, because Jesus and God don’t seem to mind that it went on.

I assume you are an atheist, given the fact you have made such an extremely uninformed (in regards to the Christian worldview) point. Yes, I will explain:

You point to the laws concerning the mixing of clothing materials, prohibition of shellfish, etc., as if to prove that the Bible is outdated, however, this not a news flash! The Bible says that these (and a few other laws) were fulfilled by Christ's sacrifice; that being said, I agree that these are outdated-but this does not the Bible's veracity.

As for your objection against slavery, I also agree with this: But again, the Bible does not promote the slavery you think it does... your frame of reference for slavery is one (and only one) thing: "CIVIL WAR ERA" slavery and the enslavement of the black race. However, this type of slavery is nowhere approved of, but rather condemned in Deuteronomy 24:7. If you say, "That was just for the Israelites", here are some more Scriptures on general treatment of slaves:

(Ex 21:20) Killing a slave is a "no-no"

(Ex 21:26-27) Don't injure your slave if you want to keep him

(Deut 23:15-16) Don't be oppressive toward your slave

(Ex 21:5-6, Dt 15:16-17) Forced life-long labor: another "no-no"

(Dt 21:10-11) Raping your servant: yet another "no-no"

What are these all characteristic of?? That's right! The African enslavement! Thus, the Bible does NOT support anything you said it supports (in this excerpt...)

- Word of Advice- "Don't be afraid to put your bias and preconceptions on the shelf, and think for yourself".

I am confused by something you wrote: You wrote: "Without Jesus’ resurrection there would be no baptism," But baptism existed prior to Jesus resurrection.
Also, does baptism save you even if you are not confirmed? Let's say someone is baptized and goes on to live a totally evil life. Does that act of sprinkling water on a baby's head without their knowledge for recollection save them?
Thanks for getting back to me.

Very nice sermon.

When reading the Psalm 30 verse at the end, I remembered the question about the word "tarry." "Pastor, what's a tarry?" "Oh, it means endures, sticks around, lags behind." "So why don't they just say weeping will stick around for a night?" "Hey, when I finalized my New York Brooklyn translation of the bible, then we'll have something other than tarry."
