The National Football League’s 32 owners, meeting in Atlanta, voted to award the city the Feb. 5, 2012, game on their first vote. Arizona came in second.

That’s the news from Atlanta right now.  Kudos to the city and all the work on preparing a great bid for 2011.  Unfortunately, they lost then by 2 votes.  That was not the case for the 2012 bid.  If you would like to see the executive summary for the 2012 bid, click here.

Again, kudos to everyone back home.  Wish I could be there for the 2012 Super Bowl, or at least back in Indy when all the fun takes place.

So you might be asking yourself the question: why pick 8th graders? Here’s the answer.

“This is an evolution of our theme — that this really is our community’s bid,” explained Mark Miles, who is heading the bid effort. “That’s been the overall theme, and this idea seemed to fit perfectly in that context.”

Personally, I think that this is a cool idea. It really shows, as Mark Miles says, that this isn’t just the hope of a few business people hoping to make lots of money off of the Super Bowl. It shows that the entire community of Indianapolis is behind this and would love to have the opportunity to showcase what makes Indianapolis tick. Kudos to those who have been planning the 2012 Super Bowl bid, for the entire city of Indianapolis, and for those luck 32 students who get to be part of history (hopefully).

Spencer, who admitted he was driving 9 hours past the legal driving limit, fell asleep behind the wheel of his semi on April 26, 2006.  The accident caused the death of four students and a university employee.

While it has been more than a year since the accident occurred, there is still a lot of hurt and pain for all involved, especially with Spencer, having to live with the fact that he caused the death of five innocent people.  We continue to pray for healing and comfort for all involved.

“I’m pleased to announce that Super Bowl XLV will be played on Feb. 6, 2011 at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Indianapolis was eliminated by a vote of 17-15. Indy has ponied up some bigtime bucks for their bid and to see it all go to waste hurts this Indy boy. One reason why Indy didn’t get the bid: seats. The new Dallas stadium will hold about 100,000 people, while the new Lucas Oil Stadium will hold less than 73,000. Another reason why Indy lost out on the bid: weather.

The Super Bowl has only been held in a northern city three times in its 41-year history, most recently in Detroit in 2006. Owners have historically preferred warmer locations, where outdoor activities like golf are possible and winter weather doesn’t threaten to mar the event.

Here’s something that bothers me: Detroit was promised that if they built a new stadium, they would receive the Super Bowl. All three cities were building new stadiums so it could have gone to either city (Dallas, Phoenix, Indianapolis). But, come on, Indy just won the Super Bowl. How about acknowledging that fact and say kudos and congrats to the Colts!?!?

Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to try again for next year and every year after that until the NFL acknowledges that Indy has every right to host the Super Bowl as does any southern city. In my opinion: the NFL has told all northern cities that, because of your weather, don’t plan on hosting the Super Bowl because it’s not going to happen. 3 times out of 41 games: that’s 0.0731707% of all the Super Bowl games played.

This alone should have sealed the deal:

The No. 1 reason: “My mom would throw a kick-ass tailgate party.”

If you look at the picture, you see Matthew 8:5-13 quoted as the place where Jesus affirmed a gay couple. Below you can read exactly what Matthew 8:5-13 says.

The Faith of a Centurion

5 When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, 6 “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” 7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But
the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my
roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For
I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to
one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my
servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while

Maybe I’m missing something here, but I don’t see anywhere in the text that says Jesus affirmed a gay couple. I don’t even see anywhere in the text where it says what the sexual orientation of the centurion or his servants is. It sounds like the Jesus Metropolitan Community Church, the sponsors of the billboard campaign, is trying to take Scripture and twist it into what it wants Scripture to say.

That’s wrong, just wrong.  They say it was consensual.  Law says sex with a person under the age of 16 cannot consent to sex with a person over the age of 18.  McBryant was released on a bond of $10,000.  Regardless, he should have been locked up for a long time.  He’s studying at a Bible college of all places.  I’m sure that having sex with a minor is something that his professors did not teach.

One thing that I have an issue with is a police storming into a ladies house.

Police took Latoya Broadus, 26, her two brothers and 5-year-old nephew out of the home about 7 a.m. They were detained in squad cars while SWAT officers entered her home on a tip that Turner was inside.

Broadus said she has never met Turner. The house stinks of tear gas, windows are broken and she said walls and furniture were also damaged. The city is not offering her family any help cleaning up.

If IPD stormed this house on faulty information and/or found no trace of Turner, then why is the city of Indianapolis not willing to offer any help in cleaning up the damage?
