{"id":1430,"date":"2011-01-20T12:36:16","date_gmt":"2011-01-20T19:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/revtucher.com\/?p=1430"},"modified":"2011-01-20T12:36:16","modified_gmt":"2011-01-20T19:36:16","slug":"a-great-readwhy-would-anyone-ever-want-to-read-the-catechism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revtucher.com\/?p=1430","title":{"rendered":"A great read\u2013\u201cWhy Would Anyone Ever Want to Read the Catechism?\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oursaviorspringville.org\/site\/cpage.asp?sec_id=140003543&amp;cpage_id=140014651\" target=\"_blank\">Pastor Dan Walters<\/a> has written a great piece entitled, <a href=\"http:\/\/pastorwalters.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/20\/why-would-anyone-ever-want-to-read-the-catechism\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cWhy Would Anyone Ever Want to Read the Catechism?\u201d<\/a>&nbsp; Currently, I\u2019m teaching the Small Catechism to our 7th and 8th grade catechumens.&nbsp; It is a difficult process because they are, well, 7th and 8th graders.&nbsp; They don\u2019t want to learn the Small Catechism (most of them).&nbsp; They are here because their parents make them come or that\u2019s what you\u2019re supposed to do in 7th and 8th grade.&nbsp; But he quotes the words of Martin Luther talking about the importance of the Small Catechism.&nbsp; Below is just a snippet of that quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/revtucher.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Catechism.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:inline;float:right;\" title=\"Catechism\" alt=\"Catechism\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/revtucher.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Catechism_thumb.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"240\"><\/a>\u2026For myself I say this: I am also a doctor and preacher; yes, as learned and experienced as all the people who have such assumptions and contentment. Yet I act as a child who is being taught the catechism. Every morning \u2013 and whenever I have time \u2013 I read and say, word for word, the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord\u2019s Prayer, the Psalms, and such. I must still read and study them daily. Yet I cannot master the catechism as I wish.
