This was our opening hymn in worship yesterday.\u00a0 A very fitting hymn for the life of the Church.<\/p>\n
Built on the Rock the Church shall stand
\nEven when steeples are falling.
\nCrumbled have spires in ev’ry land;
\nBells still are chiming and calling.
\nCalling the young and old to rest,
\nBut above all the souls distressed,
\nLonging for rest everlasting.<\/p>\n
Surely in temples made with hands
\nGod, the Most High, is not dwelling;
\nHigh above earth His temple stands,
\nAll earthly temples excelling.
\nYet He who dwells in heav’n above
\nChooses to live with us in love,
\nMaking our bodies His temple.<\/p>\n
We are God’s house of living stones,
\nBuilt for His own habitation.
\nHe through baptismal grace us owns
\nHeirs of His wondrous salvation.
\nWere we but two His name to tell,
\nYet He would deign with us to dwell
\nWith all His grace and His favor.<\/p>\n
Here stands the font before our eyes,
\nTelling how God has received us.
\nThe altar recalls Christ’s sacrifice
\nAnd what His Supper here gives us.
\nHere sound the Scriptures that proclaim
\nChrist yesterday, today, the same,
\nAnd evermore, our Redeemer.<\/p>\n
Grant, then, O God, Your will be done,
\nThat, when the church bells are ringing,
\nMany in saving faith may come
\nWhere Christ His message is bringing:
\n“I know My own; My own know Me.
\nYou, not the world, My face shall see.
\nMy peace I leave with you.\u00a0 Amen.”<\/p>\n
God of love, through Your Son You have commanded us to love one another.\u00a0 By the guidance of Your Word and Spirit, deliver us from impenitence and teach us the truth that we might confess our sins, receive Your forgiveness, and be reconciled to one another; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
