\"gay-billboard.jpg\"<\/a> I came across a very interesting article<\/a> on the Indianapolis Star<\/a>, the newspaper from my hometown. It appears that a national gay advocacy group, Faith in America, leased space on 22 billboards around Indianapolis last week to spread messages like “Jesus affirmed a gay couple”<\/em> and “Jesus said some people are born gay.” <\/em>Unfortunately, this is a true story, there is no making this stuff up.<\/p>\n

If you look at the picture, you see Matthew 8:5-13 quoted as the place where Jesus affirmed a gay couple. Below you can read exactly what Matthew 8:5-13 says.<\/p>\n

The Faith of a Centurion<\/span><\/p>\n

5<\/span> <\/span>When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, 6<\/span> <\/span>\u201cLord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.\u201d 7<\/span> <\/span>And he said to him, \u201cI will come and heal him.\u201d<\/span> 8<\/span> <\/span>But
\nthe centurion replied, \u201cLord, I am not worthy to have you come under my
\nroof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9<\/span> <\/span>For
\nI too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to
\none, \u2018Go,\u2019 and he goes, and to another, \u2018Come,\u2019 and he comes, and to my
\nservant, <\/span> \u2018Do this,\u2019 and he does it.\u201d 10<\/span> <\/span>When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, \u201cTruly, I tell you, with no one in Israel <\/a><\/span>have I found such faith.<\/span> 11<\/span> <\/span>I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,<\/span> 12<\/span> <\/span>while
\nthe sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that
\nplace there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u201d<\/span> 13<\/span> <\/span>And to the centurion Jesus said, \u201cGo; let it be done for you as you have believed.\u201d<\/span> And the servant was healed at that very moment.<\/p>\n

Maybe I’m missing something here, but I don’t see anywhere in the text that says Jesus affirmed a gay couple. I don’t even see anywhere in the text where it says what the sexual orientation of the centurion or his servants is. It sounds like the Jesus Metropolitan Community Church, the sponsors of the billboard campaign, is trying to take Scripture and twist it into what it wants Scripture to say.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
