Tis the season of winning

This has been the season of winning.  Since December, I’ve been lucky enough to win 3 different contests.

It's a trapThe first contest I won was on December 21 via Twitter@FamilyGuyonFOX was giving away 25 copies of their new Star Wars spoof, “It’s a Trap!” That should be on its way, if it isn’t already.

Torch red

The second contest I won was through “You Could Win a BlackBerry Torch” sweepstakes on December 22.  They were giving two BlackBerry Torch 9800s away each day from Nov. 20 – Dec. 24, one via Twitter and the other via Facebook.  I scored me a red Torch (approximate retail value of $499).  Unfortunately, when I was entering the contest, I didn’t take into account that the Torch is only available for AT&T, which means I won’t be able to use it on Verizon.  It arrived today.  For now, it means it will sit in the closet.

Colts hat

My last contest that I won was another Twitter contest.  This was by Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts.  The contest, an AFC Division Champion hat, all for spelling the word “cheese” correctly.  Seriously, that was it!

It was a good few weeks, I have to admit.  The only thing that would have made it better is if the Torch would be available on Verizon.

AFC South Champs once again!

AFCSouth tshirtOnce again, the Colts have done it!  Last night, in a 23-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, the Colts clinched the AFC South title for the seventh time in eight seasons.  They also clinched an NFL-record tying ninth consecutive post-season appearance.  The 1975-83 Dallas Cowboys also made nine consecutive playoff appearances.

The Colts will play host to the New York Jets Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in an AFC Wild Card game.

GO COLTS!

Indy gets the 2012 Super Bowl!

The National Football League’s 32 owners, meeting in Atlanta, voted to award the city the Feb. 5, 2012, game on their first vote. Arizona came in second.

That’s the news from Atlanta right now.  Kudos to the city and all the work on preparing a great bid for 2011.  Unfortunately, they lost then by 2 votes.  That was not the case for the 2012 bid.  If you would like to see the executive summary for the 2012 bid, click here.

Again, kudos to everyone back home.  Wish I could be there for the 2012 Super Bowl, or at least back in Indy when all the fun takes place.
