Baby’s first kick

So we’re sitting here watching some TV when my wife said that Junior kicked.  She’s been feeling him on the inside for several weeks, but this is the first time that she was able to feel him on the outside with her hand.  She said that I should try to feel him kick.  I was sitting there for a second and sure enough, I felt Junior kick!  I’m a happy daddy now!

Gwen got back from Indy today and brought with her all kinds of clothes for Junior from a couple of baby showers this past week, plus a little shopping spree she did.  After seeing all the clothes and what not, I asked if she could expedite the delivery process and if Junior could come now.  I’m so anxious for his grand arrival.  I told her that I want Junior to come so I can play with him.  She told me that I couldn’t “play” with him like I want to for a couple of months.

I’M READY TO BE DAD!  COME ON JUNIOR!

It’s a…

BOY!!! That’s right folks, it’s a baby boy! Gwen and I went to the doctor Tuesday for her 20-week ultrasound. The doctor did all the measurements of Baby and he is a healthy guy. Everything is developing at the pace it should be. He’s healthy, no defects she could see on the ultrasound. As she was checking everything out (brain size, heart chambers, organs, etc), she was moving down to check the spine and sure enough, he decided to let the world know what sex he is. There is no doubt in her mind that it’s a boy. Take a look at the pic and you tell me.

Continued problems with my niece

BréGood evening all.  Several weeks ago, I posted about my niece who has been having some medical issues.  Things start to get better, then start getting worse.  She’s starting her 5th round of antibiotics and things still aren’t getting better.  I just received this email from my sister.

Hey EVERYONE_

bulk update on Bre. Her ped. finally got some of the lab results and called us around 1040 last night, he told us the urine came back clean (YEAH) the white count was a little high (to be expected) but he also ran a Sed rate which is an indicator of inflammation, and while he didn’t say what the number was he seemed to be quite concerned about it. The results of the chest x ray have not come back yet but should be back first thing in the morning.  We are starting her on her 5th antibiotic in as many weeks, and some free samples of cingulair to help dry up the snottyness of her nose. If her fever persists for more than 3 days we are then looking into a bone scan or a cat scan to see what is causing the inflammation markers to be elevated. Her ped. also mentioned consulting RILEY”s infection control team to see if there are any other tests we need to consider in our quest to make her better. While most parents have the blessing of not having the knowledge of a nurse…i’m not so lucky, and am often thinking about all the what ifs which as we all know can drive a person crazy! But for some reason the thought of a certain illness has haunted my thoughts for several days now…and is even a possible cause for the sed. rate being high…I don’t want to throw it out there just yet, I want to be wrong, and just worrying too much, guess we’ll know for sure if we still have a fever by monday we will be running more tests. So just keep praying for us, and for miss bre, and pray that all my worry is for nothing, and that we will get over this as just an infection and nothing as serious as my poor haunting thoughts.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  I haven’t had a chance to talk to my sister to see what she thinks it might be, but it obviously doesn’t sound like it’s good.

Reading list

The Expectant FatherI’ve been trying to do some more reading as of late. One of the books I’m currently reading is called “The Expectant Father.” I’ve been reading this book for about the last 15 weeks now. It’s a pretty good read. Take from this post what you will. 🙂

Anniversary trip

It’s been 2 weeks since our anniversary trip and I still haven’t put up any pics yet.  We took some 300 pictures while we were there, but I haven’t had a chance to transfer them off of the camera yet.  Maybe I can get around to that tomorrow if we’re snowed in.

2-Year Anniversary

Gwen & Jared Today is January 14th.  It was two years ago today that my lovely wife and I were married.  It was a lovely day out, not too cold for January.  As the day went on and we were at the reception, doing some outdoor pictures, it became cold.  Fortunately, there weren’t many pictures to take.

Here we are, 2 years later and still going strong.  While we’ve been married for 2, we’ve been together for 4, though it feels longer than that.

Here’s to us on our anniversary.  Cheers!

Wide awake

It’s currently 12:28 AM and I can’t sleep. Tried going to bed around 10:15 but couldn’t fall asleep. I laid in bed for a while and I finally decided to get up around 11. I went upstairs, played a game on the computer, served the Net for a while, read some blogs and here I sit at 12:29. I still can’t get to sleep. My wife is downstairs fast asleep. My mother came for a visit and she’s fast asleep in the guest room. For her, it’s currently 2:30 AM so I figure she’ll probably be up in a few hours. I wish I could get some sleep. I’m not tired, but I know that if I don’t get some sleep, I’ll end up paying for it tomorrow. Oh well, I guess it’s time to shut this down, go downstairs, and try to get some sleep. Wish me luck.
